Q1. What is the article?

Article (a, an, the) is used before a noun that is general or when its identity is not known.
or you can also say 
Articles are those words that define a noun as specific or unspecific.

Q2. Where we use a, an, the article?

The definite article (the)

The is used in front of singular or plural nouns and adjectives to refer to something with which both the speaker/writer and listener/reader are familiar.

A/An

We use A/An with

1. With Singular noun (When you also mean "One")
Ex:- I ate an apple

2. To name a member or group
Like:- 
I am a doctor. (Jobs)
She is an Indian. (Nationalist)
They are Punjabi. (Religions)

3. Expressions that quantify
A little bit
A lot of

4. When a singular countable noun represents a class of things, persons or animals

A son should be obedient.

Use of the article "The" in English Grammar

1. When you define a specific person, object or place.

2. Unique things (When there is only one thing)

like:- The Sun, The President of India, The CEO of Jio.

3. Groups of islands or countries with plural

The Andaman and Nicobar

4. With Some Proper Nouns

Rivers (The Ganga)

Mountain Ranges (The Himalaya)

Ocean (The Pacific Ocean)

5. When you refer to classics and holy books

Examples:- The Ramayana, The Bhagavad Gita, The Mahabharata.

  

6. While referring to the names of Journals and Newspaper

The Times of India
The Newyork Times

7. When we refer to an imaginary geographical line
The Equator, The Tropic of Cancer, The longitude, The latitude.

Q3. Where should you not use an article?

(0)Zero Article

1. Meals 

   Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

2. People's name and titles

3. Most cities, towns, streets, and airports

    Delhi

    Jaipur

    Main street

4. We usually use no article to talk about things in general.

5. We do not use an article when talking about sports and games.

6. Do not use an article before the names of countries unless the name suggests that the country is made up of smaller units or constituent parts.

Italy

France

Japan

Germany

Exception:- the UK(United Kingdom), the USA(United States of America)

7. Do not use an article before the name of a language.

Example:- we know Hindi now we are learning English.

8. Do not use an article before the names of railway stations when they are also place names.

9. Before Uncountable noun

10. With years

Ex:- The 2011 was a fantastic year.
